Sevak Project: What have we done so far to support the COVID-19 Pandemic in Prevention, Support, and Treatment?
Sevaks were certified by the Government of India in COVID Knowledge.
Sevaks have been provided treatment guidelines to help patients in rural areas navigate through the crisis.
Sevaks ensure no one goes to bed hungry and are providing food to the needy with particular attention being paid to pregnant women, children, and infants.
Sevaks also are helping other NGOs with distributing food.
For the second wave in India, all Sevaks were provided with oximeters and touch free thermometers.
Telemedicine also has been introduced in all the Sevak Villages through Smart Phones.

Nital from Chhota Udepur
Two years ago, on January 6, 2019, Nital had gone to the fields with her father Amleshbhai Rathwa and mother. She was playing and suddenly out of nowhere a Cheetah attacked her by the neck and dragged her. Her uncle saw this and he immediately hit the Cheetah with a stick on the head and saved the girl. The Cheetah left, but ended up near her uncle’s house; picked up his one-and-a-half-year-old son and killed him in the field. The Cheetah was later caught and killed. They called 108 (ambulance) and Nital was taken to Shree Sayaji General Hospital (SSGH) in Vadodara. She was found to be quadriplegic (paralyzed) from the neck down. She was getting supportive treatment while the neurosurgeons were planning the treatment. She underwent spine stabilization with use of metal ring. It took her almost a year to recover with weakness on her right side (right arm has no strength/function) but she is able to get up and move with slight difficulty.
It is going to be the Sevak Project’s mission to rehabilitate her to her best capability & provide education and nutrition.
My nephew Rohin, Viren, General Manager of the Sevak Project and I made the trip to Umarpada to inaugurate a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Plant for the village. Water is being provided to the village folks at Rs.5 for 20 liters. This plant is built with funding from WIN Foundation courtesy Mr. Ruyinta Mehta. After inaugurating the RO plant, we went to Dang saw the sewing center and talked to the girls receiving the training and got a chance to meet the teacher. They wanted more machines, and one was out of order. Sandip the Sevak was very kind to give a space in his house for the classroom. When we there it rained, and the rain was coming through the ceiling. The plan is getting his roof fixed and provide him with two sewing machines. Our Sevak in Bhudasan, Aravalli District, brought to our attention three orphan children without a proper house. We built the house with toilet for the children. The girl with the leopard attack is doing well. We got her admitted to a boarding school. She will get help from the physical therapist from Muni Seva Ashram, which has a full-service hospital and cancer center. Sevak Project is doing well with your support. All this requires funding, and we hope all of you will consider donating through our home page. Thank you.
