Modeled off of the US Navy’s Independent Duty Corpsmen model, we educate one individual per village in clinical medicine, sanitation and lifestyle modification. This individual screens the village population for diabetes, hypertension, chronic diseases, and immunizations. They become the single point of contact for healthcare of the village community members by bridging the community health clinics, district hospitals and the private practitioners. Residing in the village greatly facilitates the relationship between Sevaks and families.
